Replacing One of Our First Toddler Towers
Project Overview
Location: Wye Nursery, Hereford
Some projects are particularly meaningful, and this was one of them.
Many years ago, in 2010, Active Garden designed, supplied and installed one of our first commercial toddler play towers at Wye Nursery onto their existing artificial grass, helping to create an outdoor play environment that served the nursery well for many years.
After that project, we were called in to install wetpour surface onto their other outdoor playground.
Over time, the original safety surface around the toddler climbing frame was replaced with different artificial grass, and after years of daily use, the nursery decided it was time to refresh the entire outdoor play area. We were delighted that Wye Nursery chose Active Garden once again to deliver the next chapter of their playground.
Our Solution
Working closely with Wye Nursery, we designed and installed a complete playground refurbishment that transformed the space while retaining its familiar layout.
The project included:
- New timber toddler climbing frame with different levels, higher than the previous one.
- Wetpour safety surfacing
- Blue splash wetpour graphic
- Bespoke timber planters
- Full installation by the Active Garden team
The result is a bright, welcoming play area that encourages climbing, imaginative play and outdoor learning in a safe environment.

A Relationship Built Over Time
This project means a great deal to us because it reflects the long-term relationships we build with our customers.
Over the years, we’ve completed multiple projects for Wye Nursery—from designing one of our early toddler towers, installing wetpour safety surfacing in one area of the playground and also creating an enclosed porch for parents to collect their children . Returning once again to refurbish and modernise the nursery’s outdoor play space is something we’re incredibly proud of.
Seeing our original equipment provide years of enjoyment before being replaced with a new generation of play equipment is exactly what long-term playground investment is all about.
