Creating a Family-Friendly Destination with a New Playground
Project Overview
Location: Westbrook Caravan Park
Westbrook Caravan Park wanted to expand its existing play area to create a more exciting destination for families staying at the park. Their goal was to provide a wider variety of play opportunities for children of different ages, making the site even more attractive to both new and returning visitors.
Working closely with the owners, Active Garden designed, supplied and installed a bespoke commercial playground that offers a wide range of climbing, balancing and swinging activities while making the best use of the existing play area.
The Brief
The existing playground was relatively small and the owners wanted to create a larger, more engaging play space that would appeal to children of all ages.
The new playground needed to:
- Cater for toddlers through to older children
- Provide a variety of climbing and balancing challenges
- Include traditional and inclusive swing options
- Maximise the available space
- Be installed onto the existing wood chip safety surface
Our Solution
To meet the brief, we designed a bespoke playground centred around a large quadruple climbing tower, complemented by a dedicated toddler play area and new swing frames with single seats for babies and children over 3 and the popular nest swing.
Main Climbing frame Structure
The main feature of the playground is a custom-designed quadruple tower with:
- Two towers with 1.2m platform heights
- Two towers with 1.5m platform heights
- Climbing walls
- Vertical rope net
- Stainless steel monkey bars
- Stainless steel fireman’s pole
- Clatter bridge
- Angled climbing net
- Timber access ladder
This combination provides children with multiple ways to climb, balance and explore while encouraging confidence, coordination and imaginative play.
Toddler Play Area
To ensure younger visitors had their own age-appropriate space, we also installed a double toddler tower featuring:
- Slide
- Climbing wall
- Ladder
- Left-right climber
This creates an engaging area where younger children can safely develop their climbing skills and confidence.
Swings
To complement the existing features within the playground, two separate swing bays were installed either side of an existing tractor play feature.
The swings include:
This combination provides play opportunities for children of different ages and abilities while encouraging social play.
The entire installation was completed using the site’s existing wood chip safety surfacing.
The Result
The completed playground has become a real focal point within the caravan park, providing exciting play opportunities for children of all ages and helping to create an even more family-friendly environment for guests.
Customer Feedback
We always appreciate hearing from our customers, and the feedback from the team at Westbrook Caravan Park made this project especially rewarding.
“We are writing to say how pleased and delighted we are with our lovely new playground. It was a pleasure to deal with your company.
It was so nice to work with someone who listened to our requirements, made helpful suggestions, arrived and finished on the arranged dates and provided a very high-quality service and product. These days that’s not always the case.
Our playground is very popular with our young visitors and some of the not so young! We would happily recommend you and are also happy to show any of your prospective customers our playground.”
